When you were a little girl.. what were your dreams?
When someone gives you a compliment… what do the little girls around you hear when you respond?
We all have things we have had to overcome in our lives. The fact that you are still standing means that you are a warrior. In the month of March, we celebrate International Women’s Day. It only seemed fitting to celebrate the little girls we are raising and teaching to be bigger than their dreams.
Each of these girls that you see here have a lifetime of challenges to face. They will have to be their own superhero and warriors and learn how to become strong and resilient.
Will you teach them to be how to be a warrior or their own superhero? I will.
I believe that it takes a village to raise strong children, girls or boys. It takes a community to teach them how to be leaders and warriors in their life. To teach our children how to be respectful, to believe in their dreams, and to rise above negativity and adversity, is ultimately our responsibility. The girls that are growing up right now are faced with an unreal expectation of beauty because of how girls are portrayed in social media. My goal with my business, Beautiful Evolutions Photography, is to help each girl discover and define her own type of beauty. Imagine a world where we built each other up instead of being negative and comparing ourselves to each other. Now that’s a world I want our children to thrive in.

This beautiful little girl just turned ONE! I was so happy when her momma called me a few months ago to set up her session. I absolutely love photographing little ones. This age is fun because they are just learning new experiences and their eyes light up with everything they see.
I was crazy in love with how her momma planned their session. She’s got a sweet style and did fabulous pulling all of the little details together. These lemons… so stinkin sweet. Luckily for us – Juliet hasn’t quite figured out the art of throwing yet… yet. One of my favorite things about this location was the ducks. We had a beautiful afternoon, a little humid, but still just beautiful. A perfect place for momma to love on this little girl.
Juliet is now one. She is changing daily and you can now see her little personality start to form and come into her own. Momma was smart and knew it would take a village… so she brought along some help. Everyone pitched in to keep Juliet smiling, laughing and clapping. I always wonder what people think as they walk by one of our 1 year sessions. I’m sure our group of 5 women and a baby was a sight to see… I think it was WELL worth it though.
This little girl stole a little piece of my heart this day. She’s just as beautiful as her mommy and both of their smiles light up the room.
Brittany, thank you for trusting me to be your photographer. I had an incredible afternoon with you and Juliet and absolutely loved documenting your love for her.
Every once in a while, I like to shoot for me. I have something in my mind’s eye that I want to create. I think often times we (creatives) get bogged down by “work” that we forget to take time to make things that we want to make. Flash back a few weeks ago and a spot I had been, not so patiently, waiting for finally bloomed. It was beautiful. It was magical. I quickly scheduled a couple of clients, knowing that not everyone would be able to make it. I also grabbed my beautiful daughter and asked her to do a quick shoot with me.
I wanted to not only test the light but wanted make sure what I saw in my mind, I’d be able to create. We did and the images were gorgeous. Fast forward one week. One stinking week. Two storms, 7 days… ALL of the flowers had been destroyed in the wind. I threw a minor temper tantrum before this beautiful girl and her mother arrived. Just a minor one. I regrouped and came up with a new plan. This beautiful girl and her mom came to Fort Worth, TX EARLY last Saturday morning.
Savannah is a beautiful girl. I’ve photographed her before for a portfolio that her mother needed. I knew she could do the jumps and poses that I envisioned so I was super excited to that she was able to meet me early in the morning. What I didn’t know – was that the day before we met – it was her 13th birthday. So, this is a little late… however, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET GIRL!!
It was freezing cold and she was amazing. I don’t know how her toes didn’t go numb… mine were 🙂
The light at this time of day just can’t be any prettier. Can you believe she is ONLY 13?? This just blows my mind. I love the relationship that she and her mom have. They are friends, her mom helps coach her thru her dancing and her moments, I’m sure they don’t always get along… but I will just pretend they do. Side note: I kept cracking myself up because I don’t know the official language for dance. I don’t know the names of the jumps or the poses. I’m sure they giggled all they way home listening to me be a goober trying to explain what I wanted her to do. Regardless… we always have fun when we shoot together!
Before we left, we stepped around to the other side of this art piece… the sunlight coming in behind her kept tugging at my soul and my heart. These are images I think every dancer should have. This isn’t a technically awesome picture in the world of photography… but it’s beautiful. And sometimes, you just need something to be beautiful… and not technical.
Thank you so much girls for playing with me on a chilly morning. Savannah – I hope your birthday weekend was absolutely incredible!
I had the pleasure of spending time with this sweet family again. Little Lorenz is turning 1. While he is normally a super smiley boy – in front of the camera, he is so serious and so intense. Scroll all the way down for something a little sweet
I adore him. And his two mommies. I cannot wait to see as their story continues to unfold. Sweet souls with incredible things ahead of them.
This sweet baby boy has taken his family by storm. A family that was once just two beautiful women… now is a family of three. He lights up the world and reminds us all that there is a sweet innocence that we forget about as we become adults.
Thank you Beth and Mel for allowing me to spend the afternoon with you. He is absolutely precious.
